Do you love scallion cream cheese from the market or bagel shop? If so, make it right at home using easy to find, inexpensive ingredients that will not cost an arm and a leg.
If you too have spent more than your fair share of money on bagel shop cream cheese, it is time to make your own semi-homemade version at home.
With a few common ingredients, you can enjoy this spread without having to shell out more that $3 per batch–especially if you shop somewhere like aldi.
This delicious, whipped spread is perfect for low-carb diets, or to bring to the office for easy work lunches with some bagels or toast.
Ingredients
- 8 ounces of plain cream cheese (softened)
- 1/2 cup of fresh chopped scallions
- 2 tablespoons of full-fat sour cream
Make Scallion Cream Cheese
In a bowl, combined the softened cream cheese and sour cream until fairly smooth. You can use a hand mixer to whip it until light and fluffy.
Mix in the chopped scallions.
Store in an air-tight container for up to one week for best taste.
How to Serve
This cheese spread is delicious on its own, but pairs well with the following items:
- Toasted Bagels
- Toast
- Crackers
- English muffins
- Use in recipes like cream cheese chicken for more flavor!

I love, love, love the strawberry flavored cream cheese or I guess you could make your own with fresh strawberries. (I’ve never tried that. Probably wouldn’t be sweet enough for me.)

I love Lenders bagels. If anyone could help me find Lenders egg bagels, in Henderson or Las Vegas Nevada.

I hope they paid you well for this VERY long commercial. Did they pay you extra for each time you specif mentioned Lenders? Did you get a bonus for sneaking Walmart in there, too?
